Parents/Volunteers
As a parent of a prospective member of our Crown family, thank you for allowing your son/daughter the opportunity to attend our camps. Whether you are a veteran drum corps parent or a “rookie” parent, we invite you to join your child for the weekend and get to know a little more about our organization and exactly who these people are that are going to be with your child all summer. We have a separate area for parents and volunteers to sleep, so bring along your sleeping bag and stay the whole weekend. If you aren't into sleeping on the floor, then we suggest the Country Inn & Suites, 865 Patriot Parkway Rock Hill, South Carolina 29730 Phone: (803) 329-5151 FAX: (803) 329-5811
On Sunday afternoons we usually have “Show and Tell” to show off the weekend's progress. At the November and December camps, we will hold a formal parent/volunteer meeting immediately following “Show & Tell” (about 1pm). We encourage you to attend! If you can not make that meeting, we will also have designated people available on Friday nights of our weekend camps (and throughout the day of our remote auditions) to provide you with information and answer any questions you may have.
Probably one of the best ways to understand how this drum corps thing works is to spend some time volunteering. During every camp weekend we have several volunteer positions available, and we always need help! Just email Moe at the Crown office (moe@carolinacrown.org) that you are coming and we will gladly fill you in for a job. If you aren't sure about volunteering yet, then feel free to hang around and watch as a magnificent group of young men and women pursue their dream to be a part of a World Championship Finalist drum corps.
Volunteers
Not a parent? Not a member of the Board of Directors? Just someone that has wanted to be a part of the “action” of drum corps, but you are a little passed the age limit? Not a problem! Why not volunteer with Carolina Crown and get the next best thing? Our winter camps are a great time to get to know the Carolina Crown "family" and to explore the many volunteer opportunities available, at a much slower pace than the summer tour. We have separate rooms set aside for volunteers and parents to lay down their sleeping bags. Shower facilities are available and meals are prepared in our “traveling” kitchen.
You'll get in on the ground floor of this season. Meet the prospective members and watch as our new and exciting season unfolds. Volunteers are vital during our winter camps to provide a fun and educational weekend for all that attend. So, click on the calendar link below and start making plans to join us for the weekends:
Calling all Volunteers
For years now you have heard our cry, "Calling All Volunteers"! Yes, it is once again time to ask for the assistance of all our supporters in getting the corps down the road on yet another summer tour. Support staff are needed to do everything from cook and serve food four times a day; prepare over 12,500 gallons of drink mix; attend to an injured or sick member, mend a torn uniform or flag in a rush before a big show; empty trash bag after trash bag; and "just be there" to answer a question, lend a helping hand and be a nightly cheering section; all in making it a tremendous experience for our members! And, we promise, it will be an experience you will never forget!
If you are interested in helping our members have a great summer please send an email to moe@carolinacrown.org to let us know. Also, the best way to learn what being a member of the corps' support staff is all about before you come out on tour is to sign up for one of our remaining winter camps (see camp schedule in the membership information area of our website). Sign-up TODAY to become part of Team Crown and tour with Carolina Crown this summer! This year’s tentative volunteer team dates are below. Please sign-up for one (or more) before they fill up! (A portion of a team segment may help us too if you can’t do it all!)
