Crown February CampSullivan454

New music is arriving daily at the Carolina Crown office as we look forward to this weekend’s rehearsal camp to be held at Fort Mill HS. The brass and percussion will add the pre-show and second piece to the 2014 production after learning the opener at the January camp.

“The show is well into the design stages, as we look forward to another season of fans enjoying the production," remarked Executive Director, Jim Coates.

Music Director and Arranger, Michael Klesch, along with Brass Caption Head, Matt Harloff, will be joined this weekend by Brass Consultant, Frank Sullivan.

Mr. Sullivan was a member of the Carolina Crown brass staff from 2005 through 2007 and since then has been hard at work creating Inspire... Music and Entertainment Productions, an arranging and composition company based in Tampa Bay, Florida.

Sullivan was a member of the Star of Indiana organization from 1991 to 1993, and both a member and instructor with Star of Indiana's Brass Theater from 1994 to 1997. In 1998 he joined The Cadets' brass staff, taking over as Brass Caption Head in 1999. Frank graduated from Indiana State University in 1996 with a degree in Music Education and was a band director in Indiana from 1997 to 2001. From 2001 to 2004, Sullivan toured with the Broadway Show BLAST! Frank has also arranged music for the Boston Crusaders and the Blue Stars.

Coates noted the personal side of Frank returning to Crown. “We are certainly looking forward to having Frank join the team for some fun with the brass section," said Coates, "along with getting the chance to work with some of his best friends always adds to the level of enjoyment for all.”

Percussion Music Arrangers, Thom Hannum & Andrew Markworth, will be also be joined by Percussion Technique Manager, Glen Crosby, as they introduce the new music to the battery and pit as well.

The Ensemble Music portion of the camp will be held on Sunday at 12:30pm at Fort Mill HS and is open to all Carolina Crown fans, friends and parents. We look forward to seeing you this weekend as Crown continues to celebrate 25 years of music and marching excellence.
