The Crown Organization is excited to announce the second year of the Crown Hall of Fame. The Crown Hall of Fame nomination and selection process will begin today, March 1, 2016, and conclude with the announcement of the second hall of fame class at the June 18 preview performance at Gardner-Webb University.

The 2016 class will be honored at NightBEAT Presents Tour of Champions, to be held on July 31 at BB&T Field on the campus of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC.

 

 

Last year the Crown Hall of Fame Committee, made up of ten Carolina Crown alumni and TeamCROWN members, were presented with eight finalists, before the three 2015 class members were announced.

The inaugural Hall of Fame Class was formally inducted at NightBEAT 2015. The class included Crown co-founder and founding chair of NightBEAT, Doug Madar, Crown co-founder and Board President, Kevin Smith, and longtime Crown volunteers and founder of CrownGOLF, Carol and Kerry Srdar.

This year the Hall of Fame process is beginning approximately one month earlier than last so all TeamCROWN members please pay close attention to the nomination process and the timeline.

 

Nomination Process

All TeamCROWN are invited to submit nominations for the Crown Hall of Fame.  TeamCROWN is defined as anyone who is/was an active member, faculty, or support staff of Crown (this includes board, administration, drivers, volunteers, etc.).  Nominees must be from TeamCROWN as defined above. Nominations should be sent to HOF@carolinacrown.org.

Nominees shall have made a significant contribution to the progress of the organization over an extended period of time. Contributions may be creative, administrative, financial, or educational, but should be significant in both scope and impact. 

Nominations should describe the candidate’s qualifications in letter-form up to 2 pages in length.  Letters of nomination should also include:

1. The complete name, address, telephone number(s) (including area code) and email address for the candidate you are nominating.

2. Explain why you feel this candidate should be considered for induction in to the Crown Hall of Fame. Please limit your response to two pages or less

3. Please document:

a) The nominee’s background as part of TeamCROWN.

b) The nominee’s significant contributions to the progress of the organization.

4. Include YOUR name, address, telephone number(s) (including area code) and email address.

No more than one nomination per year will be accepted from each individual.  Groups are NOT eligible for nomination by individuals into the Hall of Fame.  All nominations will be reviewed and voted on by the Hall of Fame Committee, which includes current members of the Crown Hall of Fame. Nominations should be sent to HOF@carolinacrown.org.

Once all nominations have been submitted, all nominees will be posted on the Crown website and Facebook page, and the Hall of Fame Committee, along with current Hall of Fame members, will begin accepting and reviewing letters of support for a group of “finalists”. Each “finalist” must be supported by additional support letters describing the nominee’s qualifications. All of TeamCROWN is welcome to submit letters of support up to 2 pages in length.  Letters of support should be submitted via email to HOF@carolinacrown.org.

Please note that nominations which do not adhere to the aforementioned nomination process may be disregarded at the discretion of the Hall of Fame Committee.

2016 Timeline

March 1 – April 15: Hall of Fame announced and TeamCROWN may submit nominations

April 16-30: Hall of Fame Committee, along with current HOF members, reviews all nominations, votes on and announces final candidates

May 1-30: All of TeamCROWN may submit letters of support for final candidates

June 1-15: Committee votes to select up to three inductees* for the Hall of Fame Class of 2016 (*unless extenuating circumstances)

June 18 (date tentative): Class of 2016 announced before the Crown Preview performance, Gardner Webb University, Boiling Springs, NC

July 31: Class of 2016 honored at the NightBEAT presents Tour of Champions VIP Reception and on the field during the event, BB&T Stadium, Wake Forest University, Winston Salem, NC
