Crown Celebrates 20 Year Anniversary of Steve Rondinaro as NightBEAT Emcee
Just a few short weeks ago the Crown Organization celebrated the 20th year that DCI Hall of Fame Announcer Steve Rondinaro has been announcing NightBEAT. We are honored that Steve has been so generous with his time and are always excited each year when July comes around and we know our friend will be back in North Carolina at his home show.
Right after this year's NightBEAT, Steve wrote a letter to Crown. And with his permission we have published it here for all Crown faithful to read. Thank you for 20 amazing years Steve. And here is to many more!
Crown Hall of Fame Member Doug Madar with Steve Rondinaro
Where in the heck did 20 years go already?! I've never enjoyed a volunteer gig so much.
Thank you for the recognition Sunday evening. We hadn't been moved to North Carolina from Florida for all that long when I heard from this Madar guy wondering if I'd like to come down out of the mountains from Boone to MC this little drum corps show in Charlotte. Heck, yeah! I now had a new home show in my new home state. And I really liked the way the Crown leadership was developing this up and coming drum corps. They were doing it the right way for the right reasons. I was proud to become part of the Crown family in this very small way.
20 years later I'm a long way from achieving lifelong excellence... but I have made some wonderful friends in the Carolinas. And I have seen the Crown organization become something very special. The Samaritan's Feet initiative is a whole new dimension in a drum corps giving back. I'm grateful to have the opportunity to narrate a video documenting the effort.
My award came with a "lifetime contract" inscription. Good thing. I may live in Indiana presently but NightBeat will always be my "home show" regardless of where I end up.
Thanks for all that each of you do to support the drum & bugle corps activity through Crown and beyond! See you in Indy or on the big screen. It should be a heck of a finish to a great season.
