The South Carolina Arts Commission Awards Crown With Operating Support Grant
The Carolina Crown Organization is excited to announce our receipt of a South Carolina Arts Commission General Operating Support Grant. These grants are designed to provide consistent, unrestricted operational support for arts organizations in South Carolina. Over $1.3 Million in funds were provided to 118 arts organizations across the state of South Carolina.
This $15,750 grant will help the Crown Organization relocate its offices this fall. The relocation will allow the organization to eliminate off site storage facilities and expand the CrownSTORE product assortment. It will also help provide a more inviting space for Crown employees to work in and for donors, customers and fans to visit.
"We cannot thank the South Carolina Arts Commission enough for this generous and important grant," said Crown Director of Development, Brad Martin. "This funding will not only be important this coming year as we move to our new location, it will also help us as we expand our programs and reach out into the community more and more over the coming years."
Several neighboring companies, organizations and individuals are helping Carolina Crown meet its obligation of matching the Arts Commission grant with local dollars. Individual donors can still help Crown meet this obligation by CLICKING HERE and giving to the CrownJEWELS annual fundraising campaign.
The South Carolina Arts Commission is the state agency charged with creating a thriving arts environment that benefits all South Carolinians, regardless of their location or circumstances. Created by the South Carolina General Assembly in 1967, the Arts Commission works to increase public participation in the arts by providing services, grants and leadership initiatives in three areas: arts education, community arts development and artist development. Headquartered in Columbia, S.C., the Arts Commission is funded by the state of South Carolina, by the federal government through the National Endowment for the Arts and other sources. This is the first grant the Arts Commission has awarded directly to Carolina Crown. The York County Arts Council receives funding from the SC Arts Commission and has been a partner to Carolina Crown for many years. They provide funds each year to aid in the operation of the York County Honor Band.
